<p>A safety switch unit (3) which can be operated in a plurality of modes is provided with a socket strip (2). The mode is selected by inserting plug-in modules (29, 30) into the socket strip (2). In order reliably to prevent incorrect operation of the safety switch unit (3) in the event of inadvertent connection of adjacent contacts (28) of the socket strip (2) or connections covering a plurality of contacts (28), the contacts (28) along the socket strip (2) are connected alternately, in a low-resistance manner, to different potentials. The safety switch unit (3) is connected by means of a fuse element (4) to a supply voltage. When adjacent contacts (28) are connected, the safety switch unit (3) is in the off state. <IMAGE></p> |
