The preparation of caesium formate comprises the reaction of formaldehyde with caesium hydroxide in the liquid phase (preferably water) at 0-100 (30-70) deg C using a formaldehyde/caesium hydroxide molar ratio of 1-3:1-3 (eg. 1.5-2.5:1 or 1.8-2.2:1) to form caesium formate and methanol. |
