The method involves using a transmission which divides the first and second parts of a bit according to different current or voltage levels. Each sampling phase produces at least two samples. If the two samples taken in the first phase are of the same value, decoding is effected in a decision phase which is independent of the samples in the second phase. If the samples are different, decoding in the decision phase is performed by majority vote of the samples in the two phases. The transmission is preceded by a synchronisation stage which transmits a sequence of bits of the same value. A header sequence is then transmitted which signals the beginning of data transmission.
