The vehicle's cab section (2) houses the power unit e.g. a turbine-driven generator (19) supplying a front wheel traction motor (20). The container (4) base fits closely between the rearward body extensions (21,22) which support on either side the wider upper part, in service. Latches (10,11,12) positively locate the container at each side and in the centre front. All wheels have independent suspensions with pneumatic damper/actuators (8), each with its own compressor (9) which adjust body height for loading and unloading. With wheels raised, the kneeling vehicle is backed slowly, enclosing the container base between the rear sections. The suspension is raised, and, after latching, the vehicle is driven off. After unloading, the container rests on its own support rollers. |
