Compsns comprising single-stranded oligonucleotides (I) adsorbed included or encapsulated in nanoparticles are new, where (I) comprises 8-13 nucleotides and are complementary to a human ras oncogene mRNA region contg. a point mutation. In an example, nanoparticles are prepd. by adding 0.1 ml isohexyl cyanoacrylate to 1 mM HCl (pH 3) contg. 1% dextran, allowing the monomer to polymerise at 20 deg C for 2 hrs., neutralising the mixt. and adding 0.4% Poloxamer 188. Oligonucleotides are encapsulated by incubating a suspension of the nanoparticles (0.5 mg/ml) with a soln. contg. 0.5 mM of the oligonucleotide and 0.5 mM CTAB in 10 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7) for 6-8 hrs.
