PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR APPLYING A PLASTIC SPACER TO A GLASS PANE

A process and device are proposed for applying a plastic strand (35) as a spacer with a pre-determined desired thickness (D) to a glass pane (33) with a view to producing insulating glazing units. This involves the use of a nozzle (17) which moves along the edge of the pane (33) and as it does so deposits the strand (35) extruded from the nozzle (17) onto the pane (33) in such a way that the beginning and end of the strand meet. The thickness of the strand (35) extruded from the nozzle (17) is increased at the beginning along a predetermined length (L) from zero to the desired thickness (D), and accordingly reduced at the end of the strand (35) along the same path from the desired thickness (D) back to zero.
