The cart comprises two parallel telescoping tube assemblies 23, 24; 25, 26 onto which a pivotably mounted load bearing plate 51 and wheels W are attached at one end on opposite sides. At the other end there is a handle assembly H linking the tops of the tube assemblies, including castored wheels 61 on the wheel side and a second pivotable handle means 66 deployable towards the load plate perpendicular to the tubes to propel the trolley in the four wheel mode (Fig. 2) or folded back towards the operator for storage. At the top of and joining tubes 24 and 26 is a housing 22 containing a latching means for controlling the extension of the tube assemblies. The handle means may have hand grips 65 and the second handle is lockable in any position (Fig. 1a). The load plate is lockable in either position. <IMAGE>
