Cartridge filter for hot liquids

Filtering system, in which an interchangeable filter cartridge (92), with filtration elements (1) whose ends are either embedded in a cast mass or welded together, is secured in a housing (93). The housing is closed by two loose ends (91) in which an inner collar (25) with its sealing ring (23) grasps the cartridge so that it is free to move axially. An outer collar (28) with its sealing ring (24) holds the end onto the housing. There is a gap between the end of cartridge (92) and the base (26) of the loose end, to form an inner chamber (27) through which the raw liquid is supplied at stub (21). A circular chamber (29), which collects the filtrate for delivery through stub (22), surrounds the inner chamber and is an integral part of end (91). Cartridge (92) is longer than housing (93). The cross-flow filter element (1) consists of tubular, capillary or hollow fibre membranes arranged coaxially or wound as a spiral. The whole element is encased in a cast material (4) with possibly an additional support sleeve on the outside. Raw liquid is fed through spacer material (3) to be collected after filtration in drainage web (2). The drainage web is closed at its axial ends by a mass (8) so that filtrate is delivered through longitudinal openings (50) into a collection chamber (6) formed between housing (93) and a cut-away flat portion (61) of the cartridge. The outside diameter of the cartridge is /-2% smaller than the bore of the housing.
