ULTRA-HIGH FREQUENCY, SLOT COUPLED, LOW-COST ANTENNA SYSTEM

An improved glass mount antenna system (10) employs a pair of coupling plates (40, 54) having planar cavities (82, 72) disposed therein within ground portions thereof. Surfaces of the coupling plates which are opposite that of the ground plane portions include printed exciter strips (88, 78) which cross the planar cavities to thereby provide an effective communication antenna assembly which is inexpensive to manufacture and specially well suited for high frequency communication operations such as ultra-high frequency microwave bands of between 1.5 GHz and about 2.4 GHz which are currently intended for PCN/PCS communications.
