Method of assembly of a synchronising system for a gear change mechanism

The gearchange mechanism (1) incorporates a hub and sliding sleeve and at least one conical coupling with a double conical ring which is moved by the sleeve. Coupling and ring are placed on an assembly fixture before the friction ring of the coupling is axially secured to its hub. The conical coupling is pressed, against the assembly fixture with a predetermined axial force via the inner friction ring which can slide freely on the hub. The inner friction ring is thereby axially positioned and then secured to the hub. The axial force on the friction ring is exerted via a fixing ring which is placed with radial clearance on the hub while hot. A shrink fit is obtained while the axial force is maintained.
