DISINFECTION OF WATER BY OZONATION

A process for the treatment of raw water in which the water is ozonated by high intensity contact between the water and ozone so as to inactivate any pathogens present in the water. The process is particularly applicable to the treatment of water containing a hard protozoan parasite such as the oocysts of Cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia lambelia.
