<p>The invention is a shroud (30) for a reversible thrust fan, the shroud (30) having an inlet duct (38) and an exhaust nozzle (42) with the fan (36) located therebetween. In general terms, the shroud (30) includes a system for increasing the efficiency of the exhaust nozzle when acting as an inlet duct when the fan is providing reverse thrust. The system comprising a plurality of auxiliary inlet duct systems (50) spaced about the circumference of the exhaust nozzle (42) in proximity to the rear end (44) thereof, the auxiliary inlet duct systems (50) extending from the exterior surface (46) of the exhaust nozzle (42) to the interior surface (48) thereof. The auxiliary inlet duct systems (50) are movable from a closed position to an open position wherein air can be drawn from the exterior surface (46) of the exhaust nozzle (42) to the interior thereof when the fan (36) is providing reversed thrust.</p> |
