The ball cock housing incorporates pipe connections. The spherical valve body can be rotated in the housing between ring-shaped elastomer seals of square cross-section. Heat spaces are formed between valve body, valve housing and seals. The side of at least one of the sealing rings (4), which faces outwards towards a pipe connection, has one or more blind holes (8) which are at an angle to the sealing face. The seals (4) are mounted in grooves. The open ends of the blind holes in the seals are covered or partly covered by a side of the grooves.
