Trailer coupling with elastic axial shock absorbers and load sensors

The trailer coupling (1), fitted to a vehicle, has a tension pin (17) passing through a vehicle-mounted support plate (23). The pin is anchored to the support plate via elastic shock absorbers (81,83). The coupling also includes sensors (93,95) to measure the axial force between the coupling and support plate. The shock absorbers, sensor support (89,91,97,99) and preferably the sensors (93,95) are preassembled to a single unit prior to fixture to the support plate and tension pin.
