The magnetic resonance appts. (2) includes a target (4) for generating an optical mark (26), preferably on a patient (8) in an examination chamber (6). The mark picks up at least part of the patient on a symmetry line in the examination chamber. The target arrangement (4) generates consecutive light flashes as marks (26) using a laser or LED light source (28) and a light beam deflector (32). The beam deflector is a prism. A cylindrical lens is disposed between the beam deflector and the mark, and a movable optical filter (36) is disposed between the lens and the beam deflector.
