The invention relates to a method for manufacturing paper, which comprises adding to an aqueous suspension of cellulose fibers a water-soluble or dissolved cationic starch, optionally in addition to other additives, and then forming paper from this suspension in the conventional manner. The method according to the invention is characterized in that as cationic starch a cationic amylopectin potato starch is used. The invention also relates to paper so manufactured.
