Apparatus for collecting vibration data primarily related to lubrication of bearings. A portable unit by itself or part of a modified grease gun (18) is carried by the maintenance worker responsible for greasing bearings. Using a grease gun (18), a vibrational pickup (10) is placed on the bearing grease fitting (28). The signal received is processed to sound by an internal circuit. Using earphones (12) the maintenance worker can hear bearing noises. The worker's ability to hear the bearings can insure proper lubrication of the bearings. Also, by listing to the bearing the worked cans detect possible bearing failure. <IMAGE> |
