Sealing in turbine engines

In a running lining for sealing the free ends of rotor blades 3 against a housing 1 of a compressor or a turbine of a turbo-engine a carrier and fibre bundles 5 are secured in a groove 2 around the inner circumference of the housing 1 to face the blades 3. The carrier includes strands 12 of a ceramic mat, around the intersections of which the fibre bundles 5, likewise of ceramics, are looped.
