[Class 44] [Also in Group XXXVI] Means for clamping or guiding pipes, cables &c., in aircraft &c., comprises at least two units with complementary opposed faces such that either face will mate with either face of the other or others and prevent relative rotation, each unit having at least one transverse groove to receive the pipe &c. and also an opening whereby any desired number of units may be secured together by a bolt &c. In Fig. 3, each unit a has on its opposite faces a spigot d and socket e, and on one face has parallel or flared grooves b to receive the pipe etc.; the units are held to a flanged plate f by a bolt i which passes through holes c, g and receives a wing nut and washers k, which may be locked by a safety pin i passing through the bolt. The lowest unit may be further held by a nut and spring washer h housed in recesses j. To relieve side strain, a further hole may be bored in each unit adjacent one recess e to receive a further bolt. In Fig. 7, the lower units have strips of gauze o.or sprayed metal to bind the plate f to the metal braiding of cables n. The units may be formed by moulding synthetic resin or other insulating material in which conducting material such as carbon black or metal powder may be incorporated to provide bonding. The units are held by a coiled spring q which allows ready removal of the cables. In Fig. 10, the units are held together by a bolt i and are held to the plate f by bolts s passing through some of the grooves b. In Fig. 11, units a are mounted on a clip t encircling a tube u, a single bolt i securing both the units and the clip. Removable light sheet metal or moulded covers may be fitted to provide protecting ducts for cables. |
