PURPOSE: To simply realize a plurality of resolving powers by the same printer by selectively using a recording medium having specific ink permeability or an ink repelling property and altering resolving power corresponding to the recording medium. CONSTITUTION: The pitch of the ink dots formed on a recording medium 7 is determined on the basis of the running speed of a printing head 1, ink emitting timing and the quantity of rotation per one time of a platen 5. The control of them is performed by a controller 9 and the controller 9 is controlled so as to realize the dot pitch corresponding to resolving power. Herein, a head 1 emits the same amt. of ink in any resolving power. As a recording medium, one having ink permeability or ink repellency such that the diameter of the dots formed on the recording medium by ink particles enters a range of 100-160% of the dot pitch in the diagonal direction in the resolving power is selected to be used. By this constitution, printing due to a plurality of resolving powers becomes possible. |
