摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digitally tuned integrated laser in optical communication, especially a digitally tuned integrated laser, which emits electromagnetic energy in many different frequencies used in the optical communication. SOLUTION: A digitally tuned integrated laser consists of a wafer 10, which has a defined frequency router 12, a first cleaved surface 20, a second cleaved surface 24 and a third cleaved surface 11. An active optical amplifier 181 is formed on the surface 20 and is connected with the router 12 through a waveguide 24. A plurality of optical amplifiers 22 and 22', which can be individually selected are formed on the surface 24 and are connected with the router 12 through pairs of waveguides 16 and 16'. The waveguides of the each pair of the waveguides are coupled with each other through each optical coupler 28, but each optical coupler 28 provides a part of a generated optical signal to a modulator 26, which is included in one of the waveguides of each pair of the waveguides.
