PURPOSE: To solve the problems such as the nonuniformity of luminescent pat tern in an edge face luminescent type LED array and provide a LED array head accomodating densification and acceleration. CONSTITUTION: In an LED array head constituted by arranging at least one row of a plurality of edge face luminescent type LED elements on a substrate 3, a reflecting element 6 for turning the luminous flux emitted from the LED element 1 nearly normal to the light emitting direction is provided. Accordingly, since the luminous flux emitted from the LED element is turned just after emission nearly normal by the reflecting element and does not reach the surface of the substrate by providing the reflecting element, the problem of nonuniformity of luminescent pattern due to the flux reflected by the substrate is solved. Further, by turning the luminous flux emitted from the LED element nearly normal, the two-dimensional arrayal of LED becomes easy and the densification and acceleration of the head become possible. |
