METHOD FOR MEASURING MOLTEN IRON TEMPERATURE AT TAP HOLE BY OPTICAL FIBER THERMOMETER

PURPOSE: To continuously and stably measure the temperature of molten iron at the tap hole where the molten iron is spouted from a blast furnace. CONSTITUTION: A thermometer covered with consumable metallic tube is inserted into the outer metallic cylinder and it is immersed at a specified feeding speed in a molten iron stream 6 at a tap hole 6. For example, in case where the thermometer is inserted into an outer cylinder made of SUS 304 whose outer diameter is 8mm and inner diameter is 5mm respectively and fed out into the molten iron at 400mm/sec, its temperature can be stably measured at an accuracy of±1 deg.C.
