PURPOSE: To provide a ring for yarn spinning which is formed by subjecting the ring substrate made of a specific alloy steel to the ion nitriding treatment, grinding the surface being in contact with the traveler, thus is suitable for high-speed rotation with the life markedly prolonged because of its reduction in the friction with the traveler and improved initial running-in. CONSTITUTION: The ring substrate is formed with an alloy steel containing 1.3-1.7% chromium, 0.7-1.2% aluminum, 0.15-0.30 molybdenum and 0.4-0.5% carbon. The substrate is subjected to ion nitriding treatment at 570-600 deg.C for a prescribed time to increase the surface hardness of the ring over 1,000 HV, further Fe-N compound layer and the diffusion layer are formed in a thickness of 0.3-0.4mm, then the surface being in contact with the traveler is ground to finish the surface roughness less than 0.3μm.
