PURPOSE: To increase the battery capacity per volume and attain an excellent cycle property by using a positive electrode mixed with carbon powder having a specific average grain size as a conductive material into an active material made of a composite metal oxide. CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode expressed by Lix My Nz O2 is used as the electrode for a lithium secondary battery, where N indicates at least one kind of nontransition metals, and (x), (y), (z) satisfy the following equations : 0.05<x<1.10, 0.85<y<1.00, 0<=z<0.10. The positive electrode contains the carbon powder of 2-10 pts.wt. having the average grain size of 1-10μm as a conductive material against an active material of 100 pts.wt. This electrode has a large active material bulk density in the electrode and causes little reduction of the battery capacity due to repeated charging and discharging as the positive electrode for the lithium secondary battery. |
