PURPOSE: To obtain polyhexamethylene adipamide multifilament properties due to the thermal and tensile history to be subjected during such processes as weaving, knitting, dyeing and heat-setting, thus useful for flexible clothing, by melt spinning of polyhexamethylene adipamide under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION: This polyhexamethylene adipamide multifilament yarn is obtained by melt spinning of polyhexamethylene adipamide chips 1000-3000ppm in moisture content W at a spinning speed of >=4000m/min at a spinning temperature T( deg.C) satisfying the relationship: T>=28/d<2/3> +tm -0.01(W-1000) [(d) is the single fiber fineness (denier); (tm ) is the melting point of the chips( deg.C); T>=290]. This multifilament yarn has the following characteristics: comprising >=70 single fibers each having a fineness of 0.1-0.9 denier; having a single-peak thermal shrinkage stress-temperature curve (>=30 deg.C) (peak temperature: <=80 deg.C); thermal shrinkage stress peak value S: Smax per denier of single fiber is 0.14-0.25(g/d); and storage modulus at 100 deg.C is <=2.3×10<3> Mpa.
