OPTICAL IDENTIFYING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE: To lessen dependency on wavelengths and to obtain identification and reproduction operations over a wide wavelength range by setting the respective light intensities of a light signal and light clock signal at prescribed intensities or below and setting the combined light intensity of the light signal and the light clock signal at the prescribed intensity or above. CONSTITUTION: An optical switch element 20 is provided with an optical synthesizer 1, a collimator 3 and a light condenser 4 as light introducing means for introducing the light signal and the light clock signal. The respective light intensities of the light signal and the light clock signal are below the prescribed intensities and the synthesized light intensity of the light signal and the light clock signal is set at the prescribed intensity or above. A WDM coupler 14 as the optical synthesizer 1 is an optical synthesizer 1 having the nature to allow the passage of the light having a certain determined wavelength λ1 as it is and to output the light of a wavelength λ2 to different optical terminals. The light signal superposed on the light clock signal by the WDM coupler 14 is taken out as parallel beams to the space by a collimator 3. The taken out light signals are converted onto the same point on a saturable absorber 7 by using the light condenser 4.
