PURPOSE: To provide a new polyimide ester elastomer having a homogeneous elastomer structure, having excellent heat resistance and excellent mechanical properties in a hardness region including a region of low hardness. CONSTITUTION: This elastomer is one comprising at least one kind of repeating units represented by the formula and having a molecular weight (in terms of the molecular weight of the polystyrene) of 5000-500000. In the formula, Ar is a bivalent aromatic group having at least one monocyclic or polycyclic aromatic ring, provided that when the aromatic rings has two or more aromatic rings, they are bonded to each other directly or through at least one kind of bivalent bonding groups selected from among -CONH-, -COO-, -CO and -SO2 -; and X is a residue derived from at least one diol compound selected from the group consisting a polyoxyalkylene glycol having a olecular weight (in terms of the molecular weight of the polystyrene) of 500 10000 and anα,ω- dihydroxyhydrocarbon having a number-average molecular weight (in terms of the molecular weight of the polystyrene) of 500-10000.
