PURPOSE: To obtain an acidic polysaccharide which is nontoxic, has an agglutination activity, and is useful as a feed additive for growth promotion by culturing acidic polysaccharide producing bacteria of the genus Aureobacidium. CONSTITUTION: An acidic polysaccharide havingα-1, 4 bonds and contg. carboxylic acids such as citric and malic acids is obtd. by inoculating a culture medium contg. lecithin and vitamine E and having a pH of 5-6 with acidic polysaccharide producing bacteria of the genus Aureobacidium separated from soil, stirring the medium with flowing air, culturing the bacteria at 20-25 deg.C. and sterilizing them with high-pressure steam. |
