PURPOSE: To stably obtain an excellent image by preventing a toner image formed on an image carrier from getting irregular, preventing carrier from adhering to the image carrier, and preventing toner from being scattered in the case the toner in developer is supplied from a developer carrying member to the image carrier to perform development. CONSTITUTION: Development is performed by carrying the developer 1 including the toner T and the carrier C to a developing area opposed to the image carrier 2 by the developer carrying member 11, and making oscillating electric field act in the developing area so that the toner in the developer may be supplied from the developer carrying member to the image carrier. In such a case, the carrying amount of the developer is set to 0.7-5.0mg/cm<2> and the oscillating electric field (Vp-p/Ds) within 5kV/mm>=Vp-p/Ds3.5kV/mm is allowed to act when it is assumed that a distance between the developer carrying member and the image carrier in the developing area is Ds and the peak-peak value of applied AC voltage is Vp-p. |
