PURPOSE: To flexibly deal with the font data desired by a user without increasing the capacity of a font memory by changing the font data stored in a storage means according to information transmitted from an external device. CONSTITUTION: A command transmitted from terminal equipment 110 is received by an interface control part 106. The interface control part 106 stores command data transmitted from the terminal equipment 110 in a buffer and analyzes that received command. The data are read from the reception buffer of the interface control part 106 in the unit of a byte and according to the received command, a parameter composed of the code of a character and the longitude (the number of lines) and latitude (the number of dots) of the font is analyzed. Further, the address of the storage destination of a font data storage part 107 corresponding to a character data code designated by this parameter is calculated and the designated line length, the number of dots and font data storage destination address are written in a font data managing table 108. |
