PURPOSE: To provide a divided photometry element capable of accurately detecting the luminance value of a main subject with a high probability, regardless of the adoption of a bi-secting photometry system and an exposure controller capable of properly exposing the main subject by using the divided photometry element. CONSTITUTION: The divided photometry element 32 is constituted of a 1.9mm×2.5mm silicon photodiode and further, a central part photometry element 32a and a peripheral part photometry element 32b. The central part, photometry element 32a is formed into a trapezoid having 0.2mm top wide, 0.5mm bottom wide and 0.4mm height and the top surface part is arranged to locate at height of 1.1mm from the bottom side of a subject picture frame 35. The upper part of the peripheral part, photometry element 32b is formed shorter than the top side of the picture frame 35 by 0.3mm.
