PURPOSE: To provide a wire holding device to be mounted on a wire coating peeling machine in which the attachment/detachment and movement of a wire can be performed with a simple mechanism. CONSTITUTION: A body 2 is pivotally fixed to a base part in such a manner as to be capable of rising and falling to guide a pair of nipping claws 5 in such a manner as to be capable of protruding and recessing from the top end of the body 2, and also extend and contract the space between the nipping claws 5 in the protruding state of the nipping claws 5 through a first link mechanism 6. The body 2 is driven by a second link mechanism 7 in such a manner as to be rising and falling.
