PURPOSE: To obtain techique to exhibit such a key word as to make it possible to find ones way to a document which is of deep significance or abundant in topical value by selecting the key word on the basis of the viewpoint of 'topical value' which can not be judged by the frequency of the key word. CONSTITUTION: A key word index 2004 is generated beforehand by considering the contents of all newspaper reports stored in a data base 2002 to be an object. A key word retrieving engine 2006 retrieves the key word index 2004 by considering the key word to be the input, and returns the report number of the report containing the inputted key word. A topic extraction module 2010 accesses directly the data base within the extent of the report containing that key word by considering the key word to be the input, and executes topic extraction. For adaptation, a function to sort the extracted key word in accordance with the topical, tendency is provided. Then, a topic display module 2012 displays the list of the key word extracted as the topic by the topic extraction module 2010 on a display device. |
