摘要 PURPOSE: To perform an accurate focus detection in a short time even when an error is found. between output signal trains by extracting a pair of effective signal trains from a pair of the output signal trains of a pair of photoelectric conversion element trains based on a numerical value concerning error amount between the output signal trains of a pair of photoelectric conversion element trains in a focused state and arithmetically calculating a focusing state based on the effective signal trains. CONSTITUTION: An image sensor 2 is provided with a pair of image sensor arrays A and B consisting of plural photoelectric conversion elements and outputs the output signal trains a [i] and b[i]. Based on the numerical value concerning the error amount stored in an error amount storage memory 4, a signal extraction circuit 5 extracts the effective signal trains ya[i] and yb[i] from the output signal trains a[i] and b[i] of the image sensor 2. By using the effective signal trains ya[i] and yb[i] extracted by the circuit 5, the circuit 3 performs the focus detection arithmetic operation and detects the focusing state of a photographing lens 100.
