PURPOSE: To divide a set of polygons of a nonconvex polyhedron into plural polygon subsets of convex elements fast at a high speed. CONSTITUTION: A dividing means 2 divides many convex polygons (initial polygon set) 1 constituting a nonconvex polygon into two 1st and 2nd groups 3a and 3b and grouping means 4a and 4b find subsets of polygons whose relation with adjacent polygons is convex in the groups 3a and 3b. Then a merging means 5 merges polygon subsets in the 1st group and polygon subsets in the 2nd group, having a common border ridge line, in convex relation to find and output plural new polygon subsets 6.
