PURPOSE: To determine pitches without preparing pitch data classified by chord functions by interpreting the pitches of respective tones by referring to a chord constitiuent tone storage means and a scale tone data base means according to a specified chord function. CONSTITUTION: A CPU 102 controls the respective parts of the device by executing a program placed in program memory 104. A KAMP memory 108 stores chord constituent sound table for respective accompaniment styles. An accompaniment source data memory 112 stores accompaniment source data for accompaniments of the respective accompaniment styles. When a chord function is specified, a pitch interpreting function converts the identifier of each harmony tone of the accompaniment source data into pitch data by using the pitch set of the harmonic tones for the specific chord function written in the chord constituent sound table. Then, the pitch interpreting function converts each nonharmonic tone indentifier of the accompaniment source data into pitch data on the basis of the pitch interpreting result of the harmonic tones and the pitch set of the scale tone for the specific chord function which is written in a scale tone data base. |
