PURPOSE: To restrain the occurrence of an abnormal image and to improve uniformity on an image by preventing developer incorporated in a developing unit from falling and being stored on the part of the surface of the developer carrier where the developing image is formed in the case of the rotation of a developing device. CONSTITUTION: As to this device performing developing by turning plural developing units 22 which are disposed around a rotary shaft O and in which powder material one-component developer is used centering the rotary shaft O; toner supplied on the surface of a developing roller 23 is uniformly thin-layered to have a specified thickness by a toner layer controlling part, and excess toner is scraped by a blade 32. The excess toner falling from the toner layer controlling part passes through a sliding part between such an elastic member 50 as an urethane rubber sheet having a free end on a downstream side in the rotating direction of a supplying roller 31 and sliding on the roller 31, and a supplying roller 31, then falls, and is carried by a carrying member 35. On the other hand, when the developing units 22 are stopped at a position other than a developing position, the roller 31 is stopped and the toner included in the units 22 is prevented from falling by the elastic member 50. |
