PURPOSE: To provide a fluorescent lamp, in which mercury and xenon are sealed and a better luminous flux starting properly and better luminous efficiency in comparison with a fluorescent lamp in which mercury and argon are sealed are provided, its lighting device, light source equipment, and a liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION: A cold cathode 4 is arranged in the end part of a bulb 2 in which a phosphor coating 3 is formed on the inside surface, and in the bulb 2, mercury gas and xenon gas are sealed, a cross sectional area of a discharge space is set to 20mm<2> or less, and the current density of a lamp is set to 0.75mA/mm<2> or less. As mercury gas and xenon gas are sealed inside the bulb 2, an excellent luminous flux rising property at a start is provided while the lamp can be turned on in a good luminous efficiency area. |
