PURPOSE: To provide a camera having an autofocusing device capable of accurate focusing not only under water but also in the air with an inexpensive and simple constitution. CONSTITUTION: This camera is provided with a cover member for waterproofing in front of an optical member. Whether or not the using environment of the camera is under water is decided by an underwater decision part 2, and the distance to a subject is measured by a range-finding part 1. Based on output from the underwater decision part 2 and output from the range-finding part 1, out-of-focus caused by the refractive index of a medium in the using environment of the camera is corrected by a refractive index correction part 3. Furthermore, based on output from the correction part 3, the photographing lens is driven by a focusing part 4 to perform focusing. |
