PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive image reproducing device capable of reproducing an image with high resolution without being restricted by environmental condition. CONSTITUTION: A light source 36 is arranged on one surface side of a recording medium 38 already recorded, which is wound round a supply roll 6 and taken up to the housing roll 7 side. An image--formation optical system 37 is disposed at a position opposed to the light source 36 on the other surface side of the recording medium 38, and a monochrome line sensor 39 is disposed on the extension of the optical axis of the optical system 37. On the recording medium 38, a still picture is recorded in the same direction as the carrying direction A of the recording medium 38 in a state where it is separated into R, G and B optical images 19R, 19G and 19B. Pinch rollers 102 and 102 carry the recording medium 38 in the carrying direction A at a small pitch such as about 10μm to 1μm as they rotate.
