PURPOSE: To provide a method, in which the failure of power transistors before operation is detected by simple constitution and the failure of any transistor can be detected. CONSTITUTION: In the detecting method of the failure of power transistors for a servo controller having current detectors 6 detecting the magnitude of a current flowing through a motor winding in numbers smaller than at least the numbers of the pairs of the transistors by one, the power transistors are ignited and arc-extinguished by specified order and combination under the state, in which low voltage is applied to an inverter 3 composed of the power transistors, prior to operation, and a current flowing through each phase of the motor winding is detected by the current detectors 6. The failure of the power transistors is detected and the failure of any power transistor is detected on the basis of the magnitude of the current and the order and combination of ignition. |
