PURPOSE: To obtain a semiconductor photodetector in which the detection accuracy does not deteriorate even if a defective pixel is present in a photodetector array. CONSTITUTION: A defective light receiving element 11' among a plurality of light receiving elements 11 are connected with a terminal 40 having a predetermined potential. Consequently, the light receiving element 11' sustains a constant potential (predetermined potential) even if alight to be measured impinges thereon and thereby charges are not generated excessively in the light receiving element 11'. Consequently, a conventional problem where excessive charges overflow to adjacent light receiving elements 11 to produce an abnormal output signal therefrom can be eliminated.
