PURPOSE: To restrain a toner image from being reversely transferred in the case of laminating and transferring the toner image by electrifying the surface of an intermediate transferring medium to the same polarity as that of the toner image every time the toner image on a latent image carrying medium is transferred on the intermediate transferring medium. CONSTITUTION: A first electrifying means 2 uniformly electrifies the surface of the latent image carrying medium 1, and a pre-transfer electrifying means 5 electrifies the developed toner image and the surface of the medium 1 to the same polarity as the charge polarity of the toner image. By the pre-transfer electrification, the toner image is pressed by electric field strength, attracting force between the medium 1 and the toner image is increased, so that the flowing and the thickening of the toner image are prevented. Furthermore, a second electrifying means 8 evenly electrifies and processes the surface of the intermediate transferring medium 6 to the same polarity as that of the transferred toner image every time the toner image is transferred to the intermediate transferring medium 6 from the medium 1. The dielectric thickness of the surface insulating layer of the medium 6 is <=5μm, so that surface potential is not fluctuated with respect to the electrifying process, repulsive force works between the toner image and the medium 6; therefore, the reverse transferring can be restrained.
