PURPOSE: To obtain the silver halide photographic sensitive material capable of rapid processing and improved in heat and pressure resistances and high in sensitivity by incorporating specified silver halide grains in a silver halide emulsion layer and a specified compound in the constituent layers of the photosensitive material. CONSTITUTION: The photosensitive material has on a support at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing the silver halide grains chemically sensitized by a selenium compound and in the constituent layer, at least one kind of compound represented by the formula in which at least one of R1 , R2 , R4 , and R5 is a hydroxy group and each of the others is an H atom or an SO3 M group; R3 is an H atom or an SO3 group or a 1-5C aliphatic group; and M is an H or alkali metal atom or an ammonium group. This compound of the formula is added in an amount of 4×10<-3> mol per 1mol of the silver halide.
