摘要 PURPOSE: To obtain a measuring method of a refractive index of a substance to be measured wherein removal of factors of mixing-in of errors and reduction of errors in measured amounts are attained on the occasion of preparation of a working curve and a more reliable general correlation formula (the working curve) more reliable is led out and, besides, which makes it possible to use a data processing device such as a computer and thus enables automatic execu tion of estimate of an estimation amount and extraction of the result of determi nation and quick and highly reliable measurement of the refractive index. CONSTITUTION: A measuring method of a refractive index wherein a substance S is brought into contact with an optical coupling part 12 of an optical coupling unit 10, a branching ratio (R) at that time is measured and an estimation amount of the substance to be measured is determined from a measured value of the branching ratio on the basis of a working curve prepared beforehand by using this optical coupling unit and expressing the correlation between the branching ratio and the estimation amount (X). The working curve is prepared on the basis of equations R=10.log[ε. (sin<2> (αX+β)b}/ (cos<2> (αX+β)+b}] andε=ε1 /ε2 , (whereε1 ,ε2 , are coefficients expressing unbalance between an output of light from the light coupling unit and detection thereof andα,β, (b) are constants).
