The self-propelled agricultural machine is arranged as a powered assembly to provide a collecting canopy around the trunk of the fruit tree or the stem of the fruit bush. One side of the canopy is formed in two halves, with a rigid inclined plane (2a), forming the lower half and an articulated plane (2b) forming the upper half. The second half of the collecting canopy is formed by driving the supporting ribs (7) around the vertical pivots from each end towards each other, to form the covering material (20) into the complete canopy. The fruit is collected in the canopy and falls under gravity, assisted by a vibrator (6), on to the collecting belt (8), which runs along the base of the fixed canopy to transport the fruit to the collecting hopper.
