PURPOSE: To provide a fuel cell power generating system with high safety at restarting of the system, compact size, light weight, low power generating cost, and suitable for a transportation device such as an electric car. CONSTITUTION: Gas switching valves V11 to B13 comprising a three way electromagnetic valve is arranged in an exhaust path 20 of a fuel reformer 1 and reformed gas flow paths 21 to 23 connecting the fuel reformer 1, a carbon monoxide remover 2, and a fuel cell 5. A gas exhaust valve V21 is installed in an anode side exhaust path 26 of the fuel cell 5, and when the operation of a system is stopped, a remaining reformed gas is exhausted, then a combustion exhaust gas from a combustor 6 of the reformer 1 is filled in the devices 1 to 3, 5. By replacing the remaining reformed gas with the combustion exhaust gas, an inert gas for replacement is made unnecessary, and the fuel cell power generating system is made compact and lightweight. Power generating cost can be reduced. |
