PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of a pinhole and a crack in a welding part between a sealing plate and a rectangular armor can. CONSTITUTION: In a manufacturing method for a sealed type rectangular battery, a radiation eliminating part 3 is arranged on the opening end face of a rectangular armor can 1 toward the surface of a sealing plate 2, and the boundary part between the armor can 1 and the sealing plate 2 is irradiated with a laser so as to be welded. A stepped groove, which is arranged along the outer circumference edge formed by chamfering the opening end face of the armor can 1 or along the inside of the opening end face and sets the outer circumference of the sealing plate 2, is used as the radiation eliminating part 3. The radiation eliminating part 3 is made of aluminum or aluminum alloy. Alternatively, the scanning position of the laser welding the boundary part is shifted from the boundary between the sealing plate 2 and the rectangular armor can 1 to the outside. |
