<p>PURPOSE: To provide an index display device which index-displays a commodity name list so that a commodity out of stock can be recognized beforehand by casting a glance at the commodity name list, and can save wasteful operation. CONSTITUTION: An LCD 1 and an arithmetic processing circuit 3 are provided. The LCD 1 displays plural index candidate characters assigned one-to-one to the individual commodity name list at a time. The arithmetic processing circuit 3 judges whether a commodity name beginning from the index candidate character of the commodity name list is written in the commodity name list or not for every commodity name list, and displays plural candidate characters on the LCD 1 at a time as changing a style of type respectively; namely, the index candidate character judged to bear the commodity name by full-line display and the index candidate character judged not to bear the commodity name by half-erased display.</p> |
